What should you know about one milia under eye?

Milia sit just beneath the skin and often appear as smooth pale beads. Under-eye skin is thin and frequently exposed to cosmetics, rubbing, sun, and skincare ingredients. A bump that is itchy, painful, red, swollen, draining, or attached to the eyelid edge may have another explanation, such as irritation or a blocked gland. A clinician can distinguish milia from other skin bumps or whiteheads by examining its surface and symptoms.

Do not press, scratch, lance, or scrub the area. Wash with a mild cleanser, avoid products that sting, and pause eye makeup if it worsens irritation. Keep fingers and cosmetic tools clean. If the appearance is bothersome, ask a dermatologist or eye clinician about diagnosis and controlled removal. Avoid applying topical retinoids close to the eye unless the prescriber gives precise instructions.

Seek prompt assessment for eye pain, blurred or reduced vision, marked redness, discharge, light sensitivity, or swelling that is spreading. Arrange a routine review for a bump that changes, bleeds, crusts, persists despite uncertainty, or is repeatedly irritated. Sudden severe swelling after an exposure needs urgent evaluation, especially with breathing or throat symptoms.
