Fraxel laser on the nose: what to know

A fractional beam makes microscopic treatment columns in the skin, leaving untreated areas between them. It may be considered for fine lines, uneven texture, selected acne scars, or sun-related changes on the nose. The nose has contours and oily areas that can make coverage and healing less uniform. A clinician should check whether a bump, redness, open sore, or changing lesion needs a diagnosis rather than cosmetic resurfacing. Skin tone, previous cold sores, active acne, medicines, and past reactions can alter the plan. Fraxel does not reshape nasal bone or cartilage and cannot remove every mark.

Tell the clinic about nasal surgery, recent sun exposure, allergies, active skin conditions, and products that irritate you. Follow instructions on pausing retinoids or exfoliants. During treatment, protective measures should keep laser energy away from the eyes and manage vapour or debris appropriately. Afterward, use prescribed gentle cleansing and moisturising, avoid rubbing the nose, and protect it from direct sun. Redness, warmth, swelling, and fine crusting can occur. Do not squeeze blocked pores or remove flakes, since this can prolong irritation and pigment change.

Call the clinic if swelling, pain, redness, or crusting is worsening, if blisters develop, or if discharge has an unpleasant smell. Urgent help is needed for eye pain or vision change, or for swelling that affects breathing. A persistent colour change, firm new bump, or lesion that changes should be examined rather than repeatedly treated cosmetically.
