When can an ectopic pregnancy rupture?

Rupture depends on the pregnancy's location, how the surrounding tissue responds, the amount of stretching and individual anatomy. Some ectopic pregnancies cause symptoms before rupture, while others may worsen with little warning. A pregnancy in a fallopian tube can bleed when the tube is stretched or torn, but the calendar or a particular symptom-free interval cannot guarantee safety. Ectopic pregnancy may present with pelvic pain or vaginal bleeding; neither symptom pattern can predict an exact rupture time.
