What should you know about co fraxel laser?

Short answer

Co Fraxel laser usually refers to fractional laser treatment that creates microscopic treatment zones to refresh selected areas of skin while leaving surrounding skin intact.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What the treatment means

The device delivers laser energy in a pixel-like pattern rather than treating every millimetre of the surface. The treated columns stimulate a healing response and can improve uneven texture, fine lines, selected pigmentation, and some acne-scar changes over time. The exact effect depends on the laser type, energy settings, skin tone, treatment area, and the concern being addressed. It may be considered for sun-damaged skin or lines such as crow's feet, but it is not the same procedure as a full-field resurfacing treatment.

Fractional treatment can be ablative or non-ablative. Ablative settings remove tiny portions of the surface and generally involve more visible recovery; non-ablative settings heat deeper layers while leaving the surface more intact. A consultation should establish which approach is being proposed and whether your skin is prone to prolonged darkening after inflammation.

How to prepare and recover

Before treatment, tell the clinician about active rashes, cold sores, medicines, recent tanning, previous procedures, and any tendency to form raised scars. Follow the prescribed skin-preparation plan and arrive with clean skin unless the clinic gives different instructions. Afterward, expect redness, warmth, swelling, dryness, or fine peeling; the intensity varies with the settings and area treated. Use only the cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen recommended for your recovery, avoid picking or scrubbing, and protect the area from direct sun. Makeup and active skincare products should wait until the surface has recovered as advised.

Results develop gradually as the skin settles and remodels. Some people need a series of sessions, with spacing chosen by the treating clinician. Ask whether your planned treatment is closer to non-ablative fractional laser, CO2 resurfacing, or another option such as microneedling.

When to seek care

Contact the treating clinic promptly if pain, swelling, or redness is worsening instead of settling, or if you develop spreading warmth, pus, fever, or blisters. Seek urgent medical help for facial swelling that affects breathing or vision, or for rapidly increasing swelling around the eyes. New or persistent darkening, pale patches, or scarring also need review so that treatment and aftercare can be adjusted.

Questions for your doctor

Ask which fractional laser is planned, whether it is ablative or non-ablative, what changes are realistic for your specific concern, and how many appointments may be considered. Clarify expected downtime, sun-protection requirements, warning signs, and whether your medical history or current products change the plan.

Questions people ask

Is Co Fraxel laser the same as CO2 laser resurfacing?

Not necessarily. Fraxel describes a fractional delivery pattern, while CO2 describes the laser source; a CO2 procedure can use fractional settings. Confirm the device and settings with your clinician.

Can fractional laser treat crow's feet?

It may soften selected fine-line and texture changes around the eyes, but the clinician must first assess the thin skin, eye protection needs, and whether another approach is more suitable.
