What does PRP injection treat?

Platelet-Rich Plasma is prepared from a sample of your blood and placed near the affected tissue. It contains concentrated platelets and signalling proteins that may support the body’s local healing response. A clinician may consider it for conditions such as Tennis Elbow, or for symptoms involving the elbow, heel or knee when the examination identifies a suitable tissue target.

PRP is not appropriate for every diagnosis, and it cannot rebuild severely damaged tissue on its own. The clinician should explain the expected course, alternatives and how the injection fits with exercise-based rehabilitation.

Bring a list of medicines, bleeding conditions, allergies, previous injections and treatments you have tried. Follow the clinic’s instructions about activity before and after the procedure, then complete the recommended rehabilitation rather than testing the area too soon.

Other options may include a Cortisone Injection or Prolotherapy, depending on the diagnosis and treatment goal. Comparing these choices requires a discussion of timing, expected benefits, limitations and possible side effects.
