What should you know about solution for whiteheads?

A whitehead, also called a closed comedone, forms when oil and shed skin cells block a follicle beneath a thin surface layer. Small flesh-coloured or pale bumps commonly appear on the forehead, cheeks, chin, chest, or back. They are different from milia, which are tiny keratin-filled cysts and may feel firmer. Multiple whiteheads can occur as comedonal acne, but a clinician can separate acne from irritation or another bump pattern.

Wash gently without scrubbing, remove makeup before bed, and choose non-comedogenic moisturiser and sunscreen. Do not squeeze or dig at the bumps; this can inflame the follicle and leave marks. A topical retinoid may help prevent blocked pores, but it should be introduced gradually under medical advice and is not suitable for everyone. A trained professional may perform an acne extraction facial when extraction is appropriate. Keep hair products away from the face if they seem to worsen forehead bumps.

See a dermatologist if whiteheads are widespread, painful, itchy, leaving dark marks, or unchanged after a consistent care routine. Seek earlier advice for deep tender lumps, scarring, sudden widespread bumps, or lesions around the eyes.
