The unit sends energy through a handpiece to a chosen area. Depending on the setting and tip, it can divide tissue, seal small blood vessels, or remove a superficial lesion. The clinician selects the mode, power and duration for the procedure and protects nearby skin as needed.

It may be used in electrosurgery or alongside curettage and cautery for selected growths, warts, or other lesions. The device is a tool, not a diagnosis; the reason for treatment should be explained before it is used.
