What should you know about a Servotome electrosurgery unit?

Electrosurgery uses high-frequency electrical energy to cut, coagulate, or destroy selected tissue. A Servotome is the equipment used to generate and control that energy; the device name does not by itself identify the diagnosis or guarantee a particular result. A clinician chooses the setting, electrode, and technique according to the lesion and treatment goal. Electrosurgery may be used for some benign growths, bleeding control, or lesions such as genital warts, but suspicious tissue may need a different approach or laboratory examination.

A new, changing, bleeding, or non-healing lesion should be reassessed rather than repeatedly treated without diagnosis.

Ask what lesion is being treated, why electrosurgery is suitable, whether a sample will be examined, what anaesthetic and aftercare are planned, and how scarring or pigment change will be managed. Confirm when you can return to normal washing, exercise, and sexual contact if the treated area is genital.
