What should you know about rosacea versicolor?

Rosacea commonly affects the central face with flushing, persistent redness, visible vessels, burning, sensitivity, or acne-like pimples. Pityriasis versicolor is a yeast-associated surface condition that more often causes lighter or darker patches with fine scale, commonly on the trunk, neck, or upper arms. Appearance can overlap with other rashes, and a clinician may use the distribution, scale, and skin examination to separate them.

Do not assume that an antifungal product will treat facial rosacea, or that a rosacea product will clear a scaly trunk rash. Use gentle cleansing, avoid scratching, and photograph changes in consistent lighting.
