What should you know about rosacea pores?

Short answer
Rosacea does not literally open pores, but inflammation, redness, oil, and uneven texture can make them look more noticeable.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why pores can seem larger
Pores are normal openings around hair follicles and oil glands. They may stand out more when surrounding skin is red, inflamed, dry, oily, or uneven. Rosacea can bring persistent redness, burning, sensitivity, and acne-like pimples, while congestion or a separate acne condition may add visible plugs. Looking closely at pores cannot diagnose rosacea. A dermatologist can assess the full pattern, including flushing, surface texture, scaling, and the products touching your skin.
Gentle texture care
Cleanse without scrubbing, use a light non-comedogenic moisturiser, and apply daily sun protection. Avoid squeezing pores, abrasive brushes, strong peels, and harsh astringents because irritation can make redness and texture more obvious. Treat active inflammation before pursuing intensive pore-focused procedures. Depending on the findings, a clinician may discuss azelaic acid therapy or selected IPL Photofacial or Pulsed Dye Laser Treatment for redness. These approaches target particular symptoms and are not methods for physically closing pores.
When to get help
Book a skin assessment if pore visibility is accompanied by persistent redness, burning, repeated pimples, scaling, or sensitivity, or if home products are causing stinging. Seek prompt care for rapid swelling, spreading redness, fever, severe pain, pus, or eye pain and vision changes. A sudden change may need a diagnosis other than routine rosacea.
Questions for your dermatologist
Ask whether the texture reflects rosacea, congestion, acne, or irritation; which cleanser and moisturiser suit your skin; whether an active ingredient could worsen sensitivity; and which treatment should address redness before texture.

Questions people ask
Can rosacea permanently enlarge pores?
Rosacea does not simply open pores, although inflammation, oil, and surface changes can make them appear more visible.
Should I exfoliate to reduce rosacea pores?
Avoid abrasive exfoliation when skin is sensitive; ask a clinician whether a gentler approach is suitable for your specific diagnosis.
