What should you know about rosacea around nose?

The sides and tip of the nose are common sites for facial redness because this skin is exposed to heat, wind, cleansing, tissues, and cosmetic products. Rosacea can present there with flushing that settles slowly, visible small vessels, warmth, stinging, or acne-like bumps. Scaling in the creases may also point toward seborrheic dermatitis, while a sharply irritated border may reflect contact dermatitis. A red nose is a symptom, not a diagnosis, and its appearance alone cannot identify the cause.

Wash with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser, pat dry, and apply a bland moisturiser. Avoid squeezing bumps, rough exfoliation, fragranced balms, and repeated rubbing from tissues or masks. Protect the area from sun and note triggers such as heat, spicy foods, alcohol, stress, or a new product. A clinician may recommend azelaic acid for suitable inflammatory bumps or discuss IPL or pulsed dye laser treatment when visible redness or vessels remain a concern.

Seek an appointment if the redness persists, the skin cracks or crusts, symptoms recur, or everyday products cause burning. Prompt medical review is appropriate for rapidly spreading redness, severe pain, pus, fever, marked swelling, or eye pain or vision changes.
