Ovarian cyst and bleeding after intercourse

An ovarian cyst can cause pelvic discomfort or pain with sex, but bleeding after intercourse may also come from the cervix, vaginal tissue, infection, hormonal changes or pregnancy-related problems. The bleeding's amount, timing, recurrence and connection with pain help guide assessment. A clinician may ask about contraception, pregnancy possibility, discharge, periods and screening history, and may examine the vagina and cervix. Go to urgent care for heavy bleeding, sudden severe pelvic or abdominal pain, faintness, dizziness, shoulder-tip pain, fever, or vomiting.
