Inhaler colours are not a reliable way to identify a device because brands and formulations differ. Read the active ingredient, strength, device type and prescribed directions. Some inhalers are preventers used regularly, while others provide quick relief; confusing them can leave symptoms undertreated. Your asthma symptoms may include wheezing, cough or chest tightness.

Take the inhaler exactly as prescribed and ask for a technique check at a pharmacy or clinic. Use a spacer if your device and clinician recommend one, and rinse your mouth after an inhaled steroid.
