What Should You Know About MRI Scan Stomach?

It can help clinicians assess the stomach wall, surrounding soft tissues, and selected abdominal organs when they need information that an examination or another scan has not provided. The images are reviewed by a radiologist and interpreted with your symptoms, medical history, and other results.

MRI images may show a change in the shape or thickness of tissue, inflammation, fluid, or an area that needs closer assessment. These appearances can have different causes, so an MRI does not by itself confirm or exclude cancer. The examination may include contrast through a vein, or preparation that helps the stomach and bowel appear more clearly. Contact the imaging centre if vomiting, inability to keep fluids down, or another illness makes the preparation difficult. After contrast or a calming medicine, seek urgent help for breathing difficulty, facial or throat swelling, collapse, or rapidly worsening symptoms.

Seek emergency care for vomiting blood, black or bloody stools, severe or rapidly worsening abdominal pain, a hard swollen abdomen with repeated vomiting, fainting, or yellowing of the skin with confusion. These warning signs need assessment regardless of whether an MRI is already booked.
