What should you know about hepatitis A vaccine age?

Vaccination is considered differently for a child, teenager or adult because routine immunisation schedules and previous doses vary. A clinician will check your age, vaccine record, planned travel and possible contact with hepatitis A. Adults who missed vaccination earlier may still be offered it when their circumstances create a reason to protect against infection.

The vaccine helps the immune system recognise hepatitis A before exposure. It does not treat an illness that is already causing symptoms.
