What is a hepatitis A titer test?

A hepatitis A titer test is a blood test that checks antibodies to show whether immunity or recent infection is likely. The meaning depends on which antibody type was measured, the laboratory wording, your vaccination history, and any symptoms. A result should be interpreted with the rest of your clinical picture.

Some antibody results suggest protection from past vaccination or infection, while another pattern can suggest a current or recent infection. A total antibody result may combine antibody types and cannot by itself establish when infection happened.
