The needle points may feel tender and the scalp may look flushed or swollen after treatment. Small bruises, pinpoint bleeding, tightness or temporary itching can occur. The reaction depends on needle technique, the preparation injected and your skin sensitivity. Infection, prolonged inflammation, pigment change or a reaction to an ingredient is less typical but should not be ignored.

The product matters: ask for its name and ingredients, especially if you have allergies or a history of reacting to injections. A sore, scaly or infected scalp should be assessed before treatment, rather than covered by a cosmetic procedure.

Follow the clinic's instructions for washing and touching the scalp. Use gentle products, avoid scratching and postpone heat, vigorous exercise, swimming or harsh chemical treatments for the advised period. Do not apply an unapproved cream or take medicine for swelling without checking that it is suitable for you. Photograph a changing reaction and tell the clinic when it began.

Contact the clinic promptly for increasing pain, spreading redness, warmth, pus, fever, marked swelling or a reaction that is not settling. Seek emergency help for breathing difficulty, throat tightness, widespread hives, facial or lip swelling, confusion or faintness. Sudden patchy loss or a painful scalp also warrants a medical assessment.
