Hair Marker for Bald Spots

Hair fibers, scalp concealer or a marker can reduce contrast between the scalp and surrounding hair. Results depend on shade, hair texture, lighting, sweat and the size of the area. These products sit on the surface; they do not make follicles grow, stop inflammation or treat infection. A smooth round patch may be Alopecia Areata, while scale, broken hairs, tenderness or crusting can occur with Scalp Ringworm. The appearance alone cannot distinguish these conditions.

Choose a product intended for the scalp, test a small area first, and follow its removal instructions. Avoid applying pigment over broken, weeping, painful or infected skin. Remove buildup gently rather than scratching the patch, and stop if burning, swelling or a rash develops. Photograph the area in consistent light so changes are easier to notice. If the patch is new, enlarging or recurring, arrange an assessment before relying on camouflage; treatment depends on the diagnosis. A Hair Transplant is a separate procedure and is not a first step for every type of patchy loss.

Seek medical advice promptly for a rapidly spreading patch, scalp pain, pus, marked redness, broken hairs, heavy scale, swollen glands or loss of eyelashes or eyebrows. Do not share hats, brushes or towels if ringworm is suspected until a clinician advises you. Early review can prevent an infection from being mistaken for a cosmetic problem.
