Endometriosis and mid-cycle bleeding

Light bleeding around ovulation can happen as hormone levels change, while endometriosis may coexist with irregular or painful bleeding. Other possibilities include contraception effects, infection, cervical changes, polyps, fibroids, or pregnancy-related causes. Note whether the blood is pink, brown, or red, how long it lasts, and whether it follows sex or comes with pelvic pain. Mid-cycle bleeding does not establish that endometriosis is the cause.

Use a calendar or phone note to record cycle timing, flow, cramps, pain during sex, discharge, medicines, and contraception. Arrange a clinician review if the pattern repeats, becomes heavier, or is new for you.
