Short answer

ZQuiet is a jaw-advancing mouthpiece that may reduce snoring by changing the position of the lower jaw during sleep.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What it is designed to do

The device is worn over the teeth overnight. By bringing the lower jaw forward, it may make more room in the part of the airway behind the tongue. It is intended to address a mechanical contributor to snoring, not to diagnose why someone snores.

Nasal congestion, alcohol near bedtime, sleeping position and body weight can contribute to snoring. Chronic sinusitis or allergic rhinitis may make nasal breathing difficult and deserve their own assessment.

A practical trial

Before trying a device, consider a dental review if you have missing or loose teeth, crowns that move, gum disease, a jaw joint problem, or a removable dental appliance. Follow the manufacturer's fitting and cleaning instructions. A poor fit can lead to drooling, pressure on teeth, jaw discomfort or a changed bite on waking.

Track how you feel as well as the sound: restful sleep, alertness in the day and any soreness are useful details to share at a consultation. Stop use if pain persists or your bite no longer feels normal.

Signs not to ignore

Arrange a medical appointment for regular loud snoring with witnessed pauses, gasping, frequent awakenings, excessive sleepiness, difficulty concentrating or high blood pressure. These can occur with obstructive sleep apnoea and need evaluation. Seek urgent help for serious breathing difficulty, collapse or new confusion.

What to ask

Ask whether a sleep assessment is appropriate, whether nasal symptoms need treatment, and whether a custom device from a dental professional would be safer for your teeth and jaw.

Questions people ask

Can I use ZQuiet with a blocked nose?

A mouthpiece may not address nasal obstruction. If blockage is persistent or recurrent, discuss the cause with a clinician.

Should I keep using it if my jaw aches?

Stop using the device and seek advice if soreness continues, becomes severe or is accompanied by a bite change.
