What should you know about yeast infection neck rash?

Candida can multiply in warm, damp, or rubbed skin, including a fold beneath the neck. The area may look red, sore, or irritated and can sometimes have small spots near the main rash. Eczema, contact irritation, bacterial infection, and other skin conditions can look similar. A picture alone cannot reliably identify the cause.

Gently wash the area and pat it dry. Keep necklaces, collars, and hair products from rubbing or coating the skin while it settles. Do not scratch, share towels, or apply steroid cream or a mixed cream unless a clinician recommends it; steroids can alter the appearance of an infection. A pharmacist or clinician can advise whether an antifungal is appropriate and how long to use it. Avoid using vaginal products on the neck.

Arrange an assessment if the rash is spreading, painful, oozing, crusted, recurrent, or not improving with sensible care. Seek prompt help if you have fever, facial swelling, trouble swallowing, breathing difficulty, or rapid deterioration. People with diabetes, immune suppression, or a weakened skin barrier may need earlier review.
