What should you know about Wydase hyaluronidase?

Hyaluronidase breaks down hyaluronic acid, the gel used in many dermal fillers. A clinician may consider it when filler is uneven, overcorrected, misplaced, or causing a concern that needs prompt assessment. It does not dissolve every type of filler, so identifying the product and reviewing the injection history matters.

The enzyme is injected into selected areas and may affect nearby natural hyaluronic acid as well as the filler. Results can vary with the filler, amount, depth, and location. Temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness, redness, or an allergic reaction can occur.

Arrange an in-person assessment with the clinician who understands the filler used and the anatomy of the area. Bring the product name, treatment date, injection sites, and details of any earlier filler or dissolving treatment. Do not inject or massage the area yourself.

After treatment, follow the clinic’s wound and activity advice. Keep the area clean, avoid unapproved products, and return for review if the result is incomplete or the swelling does not settle as expected. A later filler treatment should wait until the tissue has recovered and the plan has been reassessed.

Seek urgent medical help for trouble breathing, swelling of the lips or tongue, widespread hives, faintness, or rapidly worsening symptoms. After filler, urgent assessment is also needed for severe or increasing pain, pale or dusky skin, new vision changes, or weakness, because these can signal a serious treatment complication.

Ask which filler is being addressed, why hyaluronidase is suitable, what nearby tissue may be affected, when improvement should be checked, and what alternatives exist if the result is uneven. Ask how an allergy concern would be handled and when another cosmetic procedure could be considered.
