What should you know about Botox for worry lines?

Worry lines commonly refer to vertical lines between the eyebrows or horizontal forehead lines that become more visible with repeated expression. Botulinum toxin type A works at the nerve-to-muscle signal, so it is most relevant to movement-related lines. It does not replace lost volume or repair sun-damaged texture. Crow's feet are a separate area and need their own assessment.

Choose a qualified medical injector who examines your facial movement at rest and during expression. Discuss medicines, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, prior eyelid or brow problems, neuromuscular conditions, and previous injections. Ask which muscles will be treated, how a natural expression will be preserved, and what aftercare the clinic recommends. Fillers may be considered for volume-related concerns, but they are not interchangeable with muscle-relaxing injections.

Contact the treating clinician about marked asymmetry, eyelid or brow drooping, increasing redness, warmth, swelling, or pain at an injection site. Seek urgent help for trouble breathing, swallowing, speaking, widespread weakness, or an allergic reaction. Do not arrange further injections until an unexpected effect has been assessed.
