Why is laparoscopic surgery system used in salpingectomy?

A camera displays the pelvis on a screen while fine instruments enter through small abdominal openings. This view helps the surgeon identify the fallopian tube, its blood vessels, the ovary, and nearby bowel or bladder structures. The tube can then be sealed, divided, and removed according to the surgical plan.

Salpingectomy may be recommended for an ectopic pregnancy, a damaged or blocked tube, infection, a mass, or risk-reduction planning. It may involve one tube or both. Removing a tube does not remove an ovary, but it can affect the route by which an egg travels, so fertility implications depend on the other tube, ovarian function, and the wider clinical situation.

Ask why the tube is being removed, whether one or both tubes are involved, and whether the ovaries and uterus will remain. Discuss pregnancy plans, fertility treatment, medicines, allergies, and previous pelvic surgery. Follow your team’s instructions for fasting and medicines, and arrange transport and help during early recovery.

After surgery, contact your care team for worsening pelvic or abdominal pain, fever, repeated vomiting, increasing wound redness or discharge, difficulty urinating, or bleeding that is heavier than expected. Seek urgent help for fainting, chest pain, severe breathlessness, or sudden severe abdominal pain.
