What should you know about white under the skin bumps?

Firm, tiny, pearly bumps that do not feel inflamed are often consistent with milia, which are small collections of keratin beneath the surface. Rough bumps around hair follicles can fit keratosis pilaris. Redness, tenderness, or a central hair can point toward folliculitis, while clusters after heat and sweating may fit heat rash. A persistent itchy, scaly, or violaceous change needs a broader examination because conditions such as lichen planus can affect skin texture.

Location, itch, pain, discharge, recent products, shaving, and how quickly the bumps appeared are useful details. Avoid diagnosing from colour alone.

Wash gently, use non-comedogenic products, and avoid squeezing, needles, rough scrubs, or home freezing. Reduce friction and keep sweaty skin cool and dry. If shaving seems to trigger bumps, use a clean razor and avoid repeated passes over irritated skin. A clinician can recommend a targeted cream or, for selected lesions, a procedure such as cryotherapy; the right choice depends on the diagnosis and body site.
