White pimples after sun exposure

Heat and sweating can leave oil, sunscreen, and debris around follicles, making small bumps more noticeable. A thick or fragranced product may irritate skin or contribute to congestion. If bumps are itchy and similar in size, folliculitis may be considered; if they recur as classic whiteheads, acne may be involved. Hormonal acne can continue independently of sun exposure. Sun can also darken marks left after inflammation, even when the original bumps are small.

Rinse sweat from the skin, cleanse gently, and change out of damp hats or face coverings. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen labelled non-comedogenic, applying it consistently rather than stopping sun protection. Avoid picking, oily occlusive layers, and vigorous exfoliation on irritated skin. Introduce one product at a time so you can identify a trigger. Book an assessment if the bumps last beyond the period of irritation, recur after outdoor activity, become painful, or leave lasting marks.
