Milia often look like small pearly dots on the nose, cheeks, chin, or forehead. They are generally not inflamed. Heat rash can appear as clusters in warm, sweaty areas, while folliculitis tends to be red or irritated around hairs. A widespread rash, blisters, crusting, or a baby who seems unwell does not fit a simple isolated white bump and should be assessed.

Wash with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser when needed, then pat dry. Keep the baby cool and use breathable clothing if heat may be contributing. Do not pop, scrape, or apply adult acne treatments, oils, or steroid creams without medical advice. Contact a clinician promptly if the bumps are blistering, spreading quickly, oozing, surrounded by increasing redness, or accompanied by poor feeding, unusual sleepiness, breathing difficulty, or fever.
