What does allergy testing treat?

Testing may look for a reaction to substances such as foods, medicines, house-dust mites, or animal dander. A skin prick test places small amounts of selected allergens on the skin; a blood test measures allergy-related markers. Results are interpreted alongside the timing and pattern of your symptoms, not in isolation.

A positive result may show sensitisation without proving that the substance causes every symptom. Food Intolerance Testing addresses a different question and is not interchangeable with allergy testing.

Tell the clinician about previous reactions, medicines, skin conditions, and any history of breathing problems. Ask whether a medicine needs to be paused before testing; do not stop prescribed treatment without instructions. Bring a symptom and exposure diary if possible.
