What should you know about warts under feet?

A wart on the sole is pressed inward by walking, so it may look flatter than a wart elsewhere. It can have a rough surface, interrupt the skin lines, and contain tiny dark dots. Pain may feel strongest when standing or walking. A corn or callus can look similar, which is why location and examination matter.

Choose comfortable footwear and use a soft pad around, rather than directly over, the sore spot to reduce pressure. Keep the skin dry, avoid picking, and do not share towels, socks, shoes, or nail tools. A dermatologist may offer cryotherapy, electrosurgery, a prescription cream, or wart removal after confirming the diagnosis.

Book an assessment if walking becomes difficult, the area bleeds, pain persists, the lesion spreads, or its appearance changes. Do not use home wart products without clinical guidance if you have diabetes, reduced foot sensation, poor circulation, or a weakened immune system; a small injury may be harder to notice or heal.
