What should you know about visceral gout?

Gout is caused by urate crystals forming in tissues. The familiar pattern affects joints, but the term visceral gout is used when deposits involve organs or tissues inside the body. Symptoms depend on the site and may be less recognisable than a hot, tender joint. Kidney involvement is especially relevant because kidney disease can affect urate handling and may alter treatment choices.
