Botulinum toxin type A reduces activity in selected muscles; it does not instantly rebuild creased skin. A line may therefore remain if it was already etched into the skin, if a nearby muscle still moves, or if the treated pattern has changed how surrounding muscles pull. Timing also matters because the visible effect develops after the appointment and then gradually changes.

A new mark should be reviewed in context with the injection sites, dose, timing, brow movement and other facial lines. A photograph taken before treatment can help the clinician compare change without guessing from memory.

Follow the aftercare instructions from your injector and do not arrange an extra injection or filler appointment before the recommended review. Contact the treating clinic with the date of treatment, when the line appeared and whether you notice brow heaviness, asymmetry or difficulty opening the eyes.

At review, the practitioner may decide that observation is appropriate, that a future treatment plan needs adjustment, or that the crease is better approached with skin care or another option. Dermal fillers are not interchangeable with botulinum toxin and are not suitable for every forehead or glabellar line.

Seek urgent medical help for trouble breathing or swallowing, widespread weakness, severe allergic symptoms, sudden vision change or marked facial drooping. Contact the injector promptly for significant eyelid or brow drooping, increasing redness, warmth, pain, discharge or a spreading reaction at an injection site.

Ask whether the line is caused by residual movement or a fixed crease, when your result should be reassessed, whether any muscle should remain untreated for balance, and which warning signs would need an urgent review.
