The hysteroscope passes through the vagina and cervix, so the clinician can see the uterine cavity on a screen. Fluid may be used to gently expand the cavity and improve the view. A Versascope system can refer to a flexible hysteroscope designed to support clear inspection with less need for large instruments. The exact device, anaesthesia, and setting depend on whether the aim is diagnosis or treatment.

It may be used during Diagnostic Hysteroscopy to investigate unusual bleeding, difficulty becoming pregnant, or a suspected abnormality. If a finding needs treatment, the same general approach may support procedures such as Hysteroscopic Polypectomy or Operative Hysteroscopy. It is not a test that explains every pelvic symptom, and a normal view does not replace other assessments when they are needed.
