A cystoscope passes through the urethra into the bladder, allowing the urologist to inspect the lining and the openings where urine enters. The test can help investigate visible or microscopic blood in urine, persistent urinary symptoms, stones, narrowing, inflammation, or an abnormal scan. It may also be used to monitor bladder cancer. The camera view can identify a suspicious area, but diagnosis may require tissue sampling and review alongside your symptoms and other tests.

Before attending, tell the service about urinary infection symptoms, allergies, blood-thinning medicines, and previous reactions to anaesthesia.
