What should you know about trich test?

A clinician may ask about symptoms, recent sexual contact, and previous treatment before collecting a sample from the genital area. The test method depends on the clinic and the symptoms. A positive result supports trichomoniasis; a negative result may need interpretation alongside the timing of exposure and your symptoms.

Discharge, itching, burning, and pain with sex can have several causes. Testing is more useful than trying to identify the infection from appearance alone. Some people have no symptoms but may still test positive.

When booking, ask whether you should avoid vaginal medicines or sex before the sample. Share all symptoms, pregnancy status, allergies, and recent antibiotics. If the result is positive, take the prescribed treatment as directed and ask how partners should be assessed and treated. Avoid sex until the clinician says it is appropriate for everyone involved.
