Thread Lift After 60: What to Know

Short answer
Being over 60 does not by itself rule out a thread lift, but skin laxity, health conditions, medicines, and treatment goals determine whether it is suitable.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.
At a glance
- Age and eligibility
- Age alone does not decide suitability.
- Key review
- Health conditions, medicines, skin quality, and healing history matter.
- Treatment limit
- Threads support selected tissue but do not remove broad excess skin.
Age is only one part of the assessment
With age, skin may become thinner, less elastic, and slower to settle after an invasive procedure. A thread lift uses dissolvable threads, often made from polydioxanone thread, to support selected tissue. It can create a modest contour change when laxity is limited, but it cannot remove a broad envelope of excess skin. Sun-damaged skin, volume loss, muscle movement, and changes in bone support may also affect the appearance being treated.
A medical review matters because blood-thinning medicines, diabetes, immune problems, smoking, skin infection, and healing history may alter the plan. Bruising, swelling, tenderness, dimpling, infection, thread visibility, migration, nerve irritation, and asymmetry are possible. These considerations apply at any age, while recovery needs may be more individual later in life.
Prepare around your health
Bring an up-to-date medicine and supplement list, including medicines prescribed for the heart, blood pressure, or clot prevention. Never stop a prescribed medicine without the prescriber's advice. Tell the clinician about allergies, recent dental work, previous facial procedures, skin diseases, and how you healed from earlier wounds. Arrange suitable help for the first day if you may need it. Discuss HIFU Skin Lifting or Facelift when the amount of loose tissue exceeds what threads can support, and review Sun-Damaged Skin if texture is a major concern.
When symptoms need review
Contact the clinic promptly for worsening pain, spreading redness, warmth, discharge, fever, an exposed thread, or a rapidly changing contour. Seek urgent help for sudden facial weakness, severe swelling affecting the eyes or throat, breathing difficulty, or a new vision problem. Older age should not be used to dismiss symptoms that are getting worse.
Useful consultation questions
Ask how your skin thickness and laxity affect the expected lift, whether any medicine needs coordinated advice, how long healing may take for you, and what alternative would address the main concern more effectively. Ask who to contact outside office hours and when the result will be assessed.

Questions people ask
Is thread lift safe after 60?
Suitability and risk depend on personal health, medicines, skin quality, anatomy, and the practitioner's assessment.
What if I have very loose skin?
A clinician may discuss a facelift or another option because threads may not support a large amount of excess tissue.
