What should you know about stretch mark resurfacing?

Resurfacing does not remove skin like an eraser. It creates a planned healing response that may make an indented or uneven mark less obvious. Some procedures focus on tiny channels, some on fractional energy, and others combine methods. Newer coloured marks and older pale marks can respond differently, so an examination matters.

Fractional Laser Treatment can target microscopic columns of skin. Microneedling creates fine controlled punctures, and RF Microneedling adds heat beneath the surface. Carboxytherapy is another procedure a clinician may consider. Device settings and aftercare need to be adapted to skin tone and the treated body area.

Discuss tanning, pigment changes, active rashes, infections, medicines, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and a history of raised scars before booking. Ask about preparation, numbing, expected redness, work or exercise restrictions, and the products suitable during recovery.

Cleanse gently, leave flaking skin alone, and use the recommended moisturiser and sun protection. Avoid heat, friction, and unapproved exfoliants until the clinician says the barrier has recovered.

A sudden change that is painful, bleeding, crusted, or rapidly spreading deserves medical assessment before resurfacing. Afterward, seek prompt advice for increasing pain, spreading redness, pus, blisters, marked swelling, or fever.
