Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled channels in the skin, prompting a repair response. Immediately afterward, treated skin may look red, feel warm or tight, and show mild swelling or pinpoint crusting. The final change is not immediate: texture can refine as the skin heals, and the colour difference may soften gradually. Photographs should use comparable lighting, distance and posture.

Before treatment, disclose active acne, eczema, infection, a tendency to raised scars, recent tanning and medicines that affect healing. Follow the clinic’s instructions about retinoids and exfoliating products. Contact the provider if redness spreads, pain increases, the area becomes hot, blisters form, swelling worsens or drainage appears. A fever or feeling unwell also warrants prompt medical advice. Darkening or lightening that persists should be assessed, particularly for deeper skin tones, because pigment changes can follow inflammation.
