Stretch Mark Cover Up: What to Know

Short answer
Stretch mark cover-up can make lines less noticeable, but treatment usually softens their colour and texture rather than removing them.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What stretch marks are
Stretch marks, also called striae, form when skin stretches or changes quickly and its supporting fibres remodel. They may begin pink, red, purple or brown and often become lighter and less prominent with time. They can occur on the abdomen, hips, thighs, breasts, buttocks or upper arms. Their colour, age, width and skin tone affect how visible they are.
Ways to reduce their appearance
A dermatologist can examine the marks and discuss options such as Microneedling, Fractional Laser Treatment, RF Microneedling or Carboxytherapy. These approaches aim to remodel texture or influence colour; results develop gradually and may require a course of sessions. Daily moisturiser can reduce dryness, but it does not erase established marks. Protecting treated skin from ultraviolet exposure helps reduce unwanted darkening, and camouflage makeup can provide temporary coverage.
When to arrange a skin assessment
Arrange an assessment if marks appear suddenly without a clear change in weight, growth, muscle size or pregnancy, or if they are widespread and accompanied by easy bruising, muscle weakness or other new symptoms. Seek prompt care for warmth, increasing pain, swelling, discharge or rapidly changing skin. A clinician can check for causes beyond ordinary stretching and choose safe treatment for your skin tone.
Questions to ask
Ask which option matches the marks’ colour and texture, how many visits may be needed, what recovery changes to expect, and how to reduce pigment changes after treatment. Discuss pregnancy, breastfeeding, active rashes, medicines and any history of raised scars before a procedure.

Does moisturiser remove stretch marks?
Moisturiser can improve dryness and comfort, but it does not remove established stretch marks.
