What should you know about small venous lake lip?

Venous lakes are often soft and compressible. Their colour may look deeper when the vessel fills and may lessen when it is gently pressed. They commonly appear on sun-exposed areas such as the lower lip and can remain stable for a long time.

A new or changing blue mark should still be examined because several vascular and pigmented lesions can resemble one another. Do not rely on a photograph or self-diagnosis if the spot bleeds, crusts, becomes firm, or changes quickly.

If the spot is confirmed as a venous lake and causes no trouble, observation and lip sun protection may be reasonable.
