What should you know about small skin tag on armpit?

The armpit is a fold where skin, clothing, deodorant, and shaving can create repeated friction. A skin tag may hang from a narrow base or sit as a small soft bump. It can become irritated, catch on fabric, or bleed after snagging. A darker, firm, rapidly enlarging, ulcerated, or very painful lesion may not be a skin tag, so diagnosis should come before removal.

Keep the fold clean and dry, choose clothing that does not repeatedly catch the lesion, and avoid shaving directly over it. Do not tie it off, cut it, or use wart remover at home; these methods can cause bleeding, infection, or a confusing injury. Arrange an examination if the lesion changes colour or shape, grows quickly, becomes persistently painful, bleeds without catching, develops an ulcer, or repeatedly becomes inflamed.
