Small Itchy Pimples on the Body

Acne often includes blocked pores as well as inflamed spots and may affect the chest, back, shoulders, or face. Folliculitis tends to centre on hairs and may follow sweating, friction, or an occlusive product. Shaving can cause pseudofolliculitis, especially where curly hairs re-enter the skin. Hormonal acne may follow a recurring pattern, while rosacea and perioral dermatitis usually have characteristic facial distributions. Itch is a clue, not a diagnosis.

Wash gently after sweating, wear breathable clothing, and avoid squeezing or brushing the bumps. Pause close shaving over affected skin and use clean shaving equipment when you resume. Choose non-comedogenic products and introduce one new product at a time. If spots are persistent, painful, scarring, or widespread, a clinician can match treatment to acne, folliculitis, or another cause; LED light therapy is not a substitute for diagnosis.

Seek prompt care for rapidly spreading redness, warmth, severe pain, pus with fever, or swelling near the eyes. Arrange review for deep tender lumps, scarring, repeated flares, or a rash after a new medicine. Urgent help is needed for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, or faintness with a sudden rash.

Ask whether the spots are acne or folliculitis, whether shaving or a product is contributing, and which treatment is suitable for the body area and your skin type.
