Skin Tag on Eyebrow: What to Know

A skin tag may be soft, flesh-coloured and attached by a narrow stalk, although some are flatter or darker. An eyebrow bump can catch on clothing, glasses or grooming tools. It may also be a mole, wart, cyst or another lesion, so a new growth should not be treated based on location alone.

Mention changes in size, colour, surface or bleeding. The clinician may also check whether the lesion sits on the brow skin, eyelid edge or near the eye, because each area has different safety considerations.

Once the lesion is identified, treatment might use freezing, controlled heat or a small removal procedure. The eye is shielded and the surrounding skin is handled carefully. Do not pluck, cut or burn the growth yourself, and keep cosmetic products away from an irritated area. After treatment, follow dressing instructions and avoid rubbing the brow until the skin has recovered.

Arrange an assessment for a growth that changes quickly, bleeds without contact, becomes persistently crusted or sore, or interferes with vision or eyelid movement. Following treatment, seek urgent advice for eye pain, visual change, marked swelling, pus, spreading redness or fever.
