These small facial bumps form when sebaceous, or oil, glands become enlarged. They may have a central dip and can be easier to see when the skin is dry or irritated. Wash with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser, then pat dry. Apply a bland moisturiser and broad-spectrum sunscreen suitable for your skin. Avoid abrasive scrubs, harsh acids, essential oils, home freezing kits and repeated rubbing around the eyes. If a product stings or causes persistent redness, stop it. A dermatologist can recommend treatment when the bumps catch, recur in the same area or bother you cosmetically; options may include electrosurgery or CO2 laser resurfacing.

Book an examination for a rapidly changing, bleeding, ulcerated or persistently sore bump. Prompt review is also sensible when redness, swelling or discharge develops after attempted treatment. Skin care is supportive and should not delay assessment of a lesion that looks different from the rest.
