Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid to encourage collagen formation, so it is intended to build a gradual improvement rather than act like an immediate implant of volume. Swelling and bruising can temporarily make the cheeks look fuller or uneven. Firm areas or nodules may appear later and should be reported if they persist, grow, or become tender.
