What should you know about ruptured diverticulitis treatment?

Diverticulitis is inflammation or infection around small pouches in the bowel wall. If a weakened area breaks open, infection can spread inside the abdomen and lead to peritonitis or a collection of infected fluid. Severe or worsening abdominal pain, fever, chills, vomiting, a swollen abdomen, or feeling faint can be warning signs.
