Runnr Gait Analysis: What to Know

Short answer
Runnr gait analysis examines how you move while walking or running, then turns observed loading and movement patterns into practical training guidance.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.
At a glance
- Assesses
- Movement, loading, balance, and running mechanics
- Useful preparation
- Bring your usual running shoes and training history
- Key limitation
- Movement data does not replace a clinical examination
What the assessment can show
A gait assessment may look at stride, cadence, foot contact, leg alignment, pelvic movement, balance, and how your body responds to different speeds. The goal is not to label every difference as a problem. A clinician combines observations with your symptoms, training history, footwear, and goals. [3D Motion Capture](/technology/3d-motion-capture/) can show movement through space, while a [Pressure Plate Gait Scanner](/technology/pressure-plate-gait-scanner/) can illustrate how pressure moves under the foot.
Prepare and use the findings
Bring the shoes you usually run in and describe recent changes in distance, terrain, pace, or pain. Wear clothing that allows the legs and hips to be observed. During testing, report discomfort rather than pushing through it. Findings may lead to changes in warm-up, strength work, running form, training load, or footwear. [Custom Orthotics](/treatments/non-surgical-orthopedics/custom-orthotics/) may be considered when pressure or foot mechanics are part of the problem, but a scan alone does not decide that.
When analysis is not enough
Seek a clinical assessment for sudden pain, swelling, weakness, numbness, repeated falls, or pain that limits normal walking. Gait data can help explain movement, but it cannot by itself rule out a fracture, nerve problem, or joint condition. Persistent symptoms need an examination and a plan that addresses the underlying concern.
Questions to ask after testing
Ask which finding relates to your symptoms, which change should come first, and how progress will be measured. Clarify whether you need exercises, a training adjustment, footwear advice, or further medical assessment.

Questions people ask
Does gait analysis tell me which shoe to buy?
It can inform footwear discussions, but comfort, symptoms, running goals, and clinical findings should also guide the decision.
Can gait analysis diagnose an injury?
It may reveal patterns linked with symptoms, but diagnosis requires clinical history and examination and sometimes further testing.
