Some people have no symptoms. Others notice one-sided pelvic pain, pressure, unusual discharge, or difficulty becoming pregnant. An ultrasound may suggest the finding; further imaging or laparoscopy can clarify the tube and the condition of the pelvis.

Discuss whether the priority is symptom control, protecting fertility, or preparing for assisted reproduction. Your clinician may review both tubes, ovarian reserve, sperm factors, and the uterine cavity rather than treating the scan finding in isolation.

Options can include observation in selected situations, surgery to remove or manage the tube, or IVF when appropriate. A salpingectomy removes a fallopian tube; the effect on fertility planning depends on the other tube and your broader reproductive assessment.

Seek urgent help for sudden severe one-sided pain, fainting, fever, vomiting, heavy bleeding, or a swollen and very tender abdomen. If you have a positive pregnancy test and pain or bleeding, contact a maternity service urgently because a tubal pregnancy must be assessed.
