What should you know about round skin tag?

Skin tags are commonly soft, smooth or slightly wrinkled, and attached by a narrow stalk or broader base. They often appear where skin rubs against skin or clothing, such as the neck, underarms, eyelids, or groin. A dark, firm, bleeding, crusted, rapidly enlarging, or painful growth may not be a typical skin tag. A clinician may inspect it closely and decide whether testing is appropriate, especially when the diagnosis is uncertain.

Avoid cutting, tying off, burning, or using wart products at home; these methods can cause bleeding, infection, or a scar and may obscure the diagnosis. If the tag catches on jewellery or fabric, reduce friction and arrange an assessment. Removal may involve a minor procedure selected for the size, base, and location.
