What should you know about rotavirus gastroenteritis symptoms?

Rotavirus is a contagious digestive infection causing vomiting, watery diarrhoea, cramps, fever, poor appetite, or tiredness. It spreads through contaminated hands and surfaces. The main concern is dehydration when fluid loss exceeds intake. Feeding, drinking, urination, and alertness help show severity.

Offer small frequent drinks and use oral rehydration solution as directed. Continue breastfeeding when possible and offer suitable foods as tolerated. Wash hands with soap and water after toileting or changing nappies, clean contaminated areas, and record vomiting, stools, fluids, and urination.
