Urine colour varies with fluid intake, medicines, foods, and health conditions. Dehydration and Heat Exhaustion may reduce urine or make it more concentrated without producing a dramatic colour change. Hepatitis A or Hepatitis B can affect the liver and may cause dark urine together with yellowing of the eyes or skin, nausea, or unusual tiredness, but visible colour is not a complete screening test. A symptom can be meaningful even when a commonly discussed sign is absent.

Drink fluids steadily if you can do so safely, avoid intense exercise and heat, and note how often you urinate. Record muscle pain, weakness, swelling, fever, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, yellowing, and any change in urine amount or colour. Do not use urine appearance alone to decide that you are well. A clinician can assess you and arrange blood or urine testing when the history suggests a muscle, kidney, liver, or hydration problem.

Seek urgent care for very little or no urine, severe muscle pain or weakness, marked swelling, confusion, fainting, repeated vomiting, trouble breathing, severe abdominal pain, or yellow skin with worsening illness. Get prompt advice after prolonged heat exposure or strenuous exertion when symptoms are increasing, even if urine remains its usual colour. Emergency symptoms should not wait for home monitoring.
